Introduction

'Enlightened Heart' is an organisation established by practitioners in the Karma Kagyu Lineage who shared the aspiration to make the pure teachings of the Karma Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism available to ordinary New Zealanders.

This website is the public face of our organisation and serves as the point of first contact for anyone who wishes to acquaint themselves with our aims and objectives, support our activities, subscribe to our free electronic newsletter, join an E-mail discussion group, or become a member and give financial assistance. Donations are gratefully received and will be acknowledged with a receipt.

Objectives

To encourage the understanding and practice of the Buddha's Teachings in Aotearoa New Zealand.

To support the interface of traditional and contemporary Buddhist thought.

To enable the transition of the transmission of the Buddha's Teachings from traditional to contemporary settings.

To uphold the genuine Dharma teachings of the Karma Kagyu Lineage.

To create opportunities for visits to Aotearoa New Zealand by recognised teachers regardless of ethnic origin who are capable of communicating Buddhist teachings in clear concise terms in a way that is relevant to the lives of ordinary people.

To organise public events to promote understanding of the Buddhist way of life for all New Zealanders regardless of age, sex, race, creed , culture, ethnic origin or socio-economic status.To provide conducive accessible learning environments, in which teachers and students can interact in a beneficial and meaningful way.

To stimulate discussion and debate on issues of relevance to students, practitioners and teachers in the Karma Kagyu Lineage.
