UNESCO prize awarded to Lama Ole Nydahl

On June 13, 2015 Lama Ole Nydahl has received the award for dialogue, coexistence and peace of the UNESCO Association for Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue in Malaga (Spain).
The award was granted to him and his late wife Hannah Nydahl for their contribution towards freedom of speech, compassion and the development of peace and goodness. As another award winner, the Association honored Pope Francis I.
During the ceremony at the Palacio de Congresos in Malaga, President Lorenzo Rodriguez de la Peña emphasized the unique role of Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah, who had died in 2007, to the promotion of universal values and human freedoms and their support for people’s inner peace and prosperity.
The prize of “dialogue, coexistence and peace” will in future be awarded annually. The Association’s goal is to strengthen human exchange between individuals, groups and institutions, in order to promote individual and social peace. This should contribute to the preservation of cultural and religious values, based on tolerance and liberty.
The “Asociación para la UNESCO promocion del Diálogo intercultural e interreligioso en Málaga” was founded in 2006 and is one of the associations of UNESCO in Spain. Its members are representatives of all major world religions and various cultural organizations.
