Press Release from the Private Office of His Holiness Karmapa
The Eighteen Birthday of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje was
celebrated on May 6, 2001 in as many as 500 centers and Monasteries all over world with a
special ceremony and recitation of Long Life Prayers.
Many followers, devotees and well-wishers of His Holiness from near and far participated
with the official Monk body of Rumtek in an offering ceremony and Long Life Prayer on the
auspicious occasion of His Holiness's birthday. Members / Representatives of the Denjong
Nang Ten Sung Kyob Tsogpa, Sikkim Tribal Women Association, Conscious Tribal Youths of
Sikkim and many individuals also participated in this special occasion.
All those who were present here at the temporary residence of His Holiness at Kalimpong
offered their respect and best wishes and in turn received a special blessing from His
Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa.
His Holiness will be making special prayers and offering on May 7th 2001 to mark the
special Occasion of the Vesak Day and sends his greeting to all on this occasion.
